Samantha Cooper is an Earthwork Music artist, an educator and a studio musician. A multi-instrumental songwriter crafting her first album, Sam’s performances range from rollicking to meditative. Bands she’s worked with include Maraj, Hearth & Hymn, Chris Bathgate and the Bowhunter String Band, among others. She's also a co-founder and booker for the monthly Square Dance Kalamazoo series, which has grown into one of the largest old-time square dance revivals in the country. Sam has a Social Ecology BA from Western Michigan University and she designs curricula based on concepts of contemplative studies, creative empowerment and the Enneagram. She also teaches songwriting seasonally for SEEDS after-school programs in northern Michigan.
The Earthwork Music collective believes in the intrinsic and historical power of music to raise both community and self-awareness and serves to facilitate and encourage original music in the state of Michigan and beyond.
