MAY ERLEWINE RETURNS WITH MOTHER LION,
ANNOUNCES OCTOBER 2017 ALBUM RELEASE TOUR ACROSS MICHIGAN
On November 1st 2017, May Erlewine, one of Michigan’s most beloved songwriters, will release her tenth studio album: Mother Lion, her most vulnerable work yet.
The album’s release tour will be limited to Erlewine’s home state of Michigan for the month of October (a national digital release is slated for November 1st), giving her longtime, home-base supporters the first listen. The Michigan release will kick off with a seven-date concert tour around the state, where the new music will be highlighted at intimate, listening-room style shows in the following locations:
Erlewine will be backed at these shows by a talented cast of friends and collaborators, including Julian Allen on drums, Tyler Duncan on keyboards and synth, Max Lockwood on bass, Anand Nayak on guitar and Katie Van Dusen on violin.
Erlewine describes Mother Lion as “an album born from deep change.” The artist’s voice — warm, familiar, effortless — is a beguiling vehicle for potent songwriting exploring the nature of grief and gratitude; it is music that continues to reveal more layers with each listen. This deeply personal project was supported, in part, by a remarkable Kickstarter campaign that raised nearly $40,000 in just a few weeks — a testament to Erlewine’s reach and her fans’ belief in her work.
The Earthwork Music collective believes in the intrinsic and historical power of music to raise both community and self-awareness and serves to facilitate and encourage original music in the state of Michigan and beyond.
