My spirit is full after our 5-day Earthwork Music Collective tour through Michigan's lower peninsula. I feel immense gratitude to the collective for helping to create a true community of music and friendship. There were so many highlights from the tour for me, I will name just a few here:
-Being backed by an amazing band of musicians!
-Rachael Davis' surprise appearance at Founders in Grand Rapids and getting to sing We Are and Beautiful Light with her and May for the first time since our recording session in 2012.
-Our collective entrance into the Kalamazoo First Congregational Church singing Glow in the Dark a capella. Our voices felt so big in that beautiful space that was filled with so many kind hearts, friends and family.
-My mom singing with me on the Kalamazoo song in Kalamazoo!
-Singing Down By the Riverside and Shine On together at the Avenue Cafe in Lansing and bringing moments of stillness and listening to that very live room.
-Sharing music with Allison and hearing her beautiful piano work.
-Having a chance to learn other peoples' tunes in greater depth, getting to enjoy sitting in the audience as well as singing on stage.
-Laughing, eating, and singing together. Becoming better friends.
I hope that we can continue to tour in this way, to share the burdens and joys and lift each other up as well as those in the audience, and to create a truly collective experience of peace and happiness. I would like our circle to continue to expand and include more musicians and supporters, to increase our strength, diversity, and love.
The Earthwork Music collective believes in the intrinsic and historical power of music to raise both community and self-awareness and serves to facilitate and encourage original music in the state of Michigan and beyond.
