Stella!
Take Earthwork veterans Jen Sygit and Laura Bates and add eclectic Detroit songwriter Jo Serrapere (of Jo Serrapere and the Willie Duns, formerly of Uncle Earl) and fiddler, songwriter, and classical violist, Diana Ladio (of Dragon Wagon and String Cheese), and you get Stella!, a four-piece, all-women, American roots band. Stella! was first conceived of by Jo Serrapere after a conversation with American music critic and Creem Magazine co-founder Dave Marsh. A power-house chick band with classic country and blues roots, Stella! has been referred to as a singer-songwriter super group with three-part vocal harmonies and four songwriter voices.
