After years of sharing tunes and raiding family songbooks & hymnals, Elisabeth Pixley-Fink & Samantha Cooper created Hearth & Hymn as a channel to interpret old songs. Their sound is inspired by hymns, contemplative music, the sacred harp tradition, kitchen music and vintage Americana stylings. This album was recorded at the Double Phelix Studio and around the Pixley-Fink piano in the summer of 2013. Please visit our webpage for tune sources, song stories and original verses.
This album is dedicated to our dear departed Cat Peril, and to everyone involved in the Operation Fat Peril Campaign. Many thanks to our community of friends & family. Thanks to the Miss Muse house for enriching this project with warm hospitality, to Christian Bathgate for lending his expertise, and to the Pixley-Fink family for sharing their songbooks. Please visit our webpage for tune sources, song stories and original verses.
