Over the last 15 years, the Barn Stage at the Earthwork Harvest Gathering has become a centerpiece for intimacy and sonic bliss. To peg the stately architectural space as sacred would be an understatement. Through the years it's hosted countless world class musicians, dances, workshops, weddings and talent shows. In the old wooden planks there lives a charm and comfort that you can feel in your bones.
Bernard's guitar roars, screams and rings out with joy and fervor, demanding your full attention. During the set, he opens up and cuts loose in a flawless monster-like fashion. The addition of multi-instrumentalist Tyler Duncan brings an infectious spark with lush keyboards and whistle. The groove laid down by Rickabus, Shimmin and Lockwood is solid and stabilizing. With this collection of players, the deep songs of Seth Bernard cannot be tamed or damaged, only elevated.
If you've never experienced the Barn Stage in-person on a chilly autumn evening, this is your opportunity to re-live a magical musical moment. If you were one of the lucky spectators to witness this set, kudos to you for staying up late - I'd say you were very well rewarded.
