In October of 2016, we lit a fire at Earthwork Farm and kept it going strong for a weekend as we recorded guitar-based soundscapes for Standing Rock. We are releasing this in solidarity with the people putting their lives on the line to protect the sacred. For our daughters, for our mothers and fathers, for the Odawa and Ojibwa, Agonquin and Potawatomi, for the Sioux and the Fox --for all the Anishinaabeg; for the holy Water, lapping all around the shores of the Michigan Basin, the Precambrian, the Huron; for all the variable and unforeseeable futures...
Here is a piece of that Vigil, for you. The artwork was taken from a piece by Iris Betsy Bernard, which she painted with the water protectors in mind while the music played. We recorded this music on Frank Youngman's old cassette 4-track machine and it was mastered by Ian Gorman in Kalamazoo. All proceeds will be donated to Earth Guardians and Water Protectors.
