Jo Serrapere

Jo Serrapere is a songwriter from Detroit, Michigan and a clinical psychologist. Whether recreating old classics or performing original songs in her own deeply confessional and comic styles, Jo’s music stands original while always reflecting her love of American roots music. Her eclectic writing and performance fuses elements of various modern and traditional folk music, Delta and electric blues, roots rock, classic and alt-country, Western swing, garage rock and early-era swing. Jo has performed at venues and festivals throughout the country and twice on NPR’s “A Prairie Home Companion.” Her first album with her band, Stella! was sponsored by acclaimed rock writer, Dave Marsh who helped create Creem Magazine and is Bruce Springsteen’s biographer. Jo is the founding member of the old-time group Uncle Earl and performs currently with the bands, Stella!, Jo Serrapere & the LaFawndas and with her parter, John Devine.
